Auto-Complete Improvements for Conditional Expressions in Wave Editor

Naama Aharoni

When creating or editing Waves—especially when working with conditional expressions—the auto-complete behavior doesn’t follow standard developer expectations.

Issues observed:

  • Typing a . and then part of the next token does not trigger auto-complete. Pressing TAB or CTRL+SPACE has no effect.
  • You have to manually select from the pop-up list, which slows things down.
  • Auto-complete appears to only work at the first level (e.g., XXX.YYY), but doesn’t continue for deeper paths like XXX.YYY.ZZZ.

Suggestion:

It would be great if the conditional editor supported standard auto-complete behavior—where developers can type and complete fields quickly using familiar keyboard shortcuts, and navigate multi-level field paths more fluidly.

This would really streamline Wave development and improve the experience for technical users.
